旅行者に人気のエリア　Popular Place with Travelers

This area is a particularly popular place with travelers. The Kiyomizu-dera temple is said to be the most visited tourist site in Kyoto. Souvenir shops and restaurants typical of Kyoto line the streets of Sannei-zaka and Ninen-zaka, and these lanes, along with the stone-paved Nene-no-michi, are a bustling area throughout each of four seasons. There are many elegant and charming streets in the vicinity, such as Ishibe-koji and yasaka-dori, which looks up toward the Yasaka-no-to.

京都で最も多くの観光客が訪れると言われる清水寺をはじめ、旅行者の人気が特に高いエリアです。京都らしい土産物屋や食事処が軒を連ねる産寧坂や二年坂、石畳がしかれた「ねねの道」など、四季を通じて賑わいます。周辺には石塀小路や、八坂の塔を望む八坂通りなどの趣深い道も多くあります。

東山花灯路　Higashiyama-hana-toro Illumination event

Some temples are lit up at night during the tourist season. In the middle of the March during the Higashiyama-Hana-toro illumination event, the lane that runs from Kiyomizu-dera-temple to the vicinity of Shoren-in-temple is illuminated by wood and paper oil lanterns and fills with a wonderful and romantic night. Cherry tree blossom in early April at Kiyomizu-dera-temple and Maruyama-koen park, and Kiyomizu-dera-temple`s autumn leaves in late November are also splendid.

観光シーズンの夜はライトアップされる寺院もあり、3月中旬に行われる「東山花灯路」は、清水寺から青蓮院付近までの路地が行燈で照らされ、幻想的な光景が広がります。4月上旬ごろには清水寺や円山公園の桜が、11月下旬ごろには清水寺などの紅葉が見事です。
